As schools prepared to reopen, the Alliance Development Trust (ADT), in coordination with the Kolonnawa Divisional Secretariat, organised a clean-up and restoration of a primary school in Kotikawatta. The school had been used as a temporary shelter for flood-affected families. This effort helped ensure the school was ready to resume the delayed school term.
The ADT staff and volunteers also conducted cleaning and restoration work at Shelidian International School in Udumulla, Mulleriyawa, and Modern Bright Montessori in Kolonnawa. These schools had been submerged under more than six feet of floodwater. The clean-up focused on thoroughly cleaning and sanitising the premises so children could return to a safe and healthy learning environment. Through these interventions, the ADT extended its flood response beyond immediate relief distribution.
Further, the ADT restored a community well in Kolonnawa that had been contaminated with debris and floodwater, helping re-establish access to safe drinking water for residents.
