ADT, in collaboration with the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC), successfully hosted the

Cricket and Netball Carnival 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to raise public awareness on

leprosy. The event brought together youth through sports to create awareness about leprosy

and foster community engagement in a vibrant and meaningful way.

The carnival featured exciting cricket and netball tournaments, as well as an informative

awareness booth. These activities aimed to educate participants on the importance of early

detection while promoting a spirit of unity and collective responsibility.

We were honoured by the presence of Her Worship the Mayor, Vraîe Cally Balthazaar, whose

support and encouragement added significance to the occasion.

A youth leader from Foursquare Church, Wattala, shared:

“The leprosy awareness message was shared in such a creative way through cricket—a game that brings everyone together. There was great participation from many churches, and through our participation at this competition, we too became more aware of leprosy. I believe our church youth clubs can now help spread this message even further.” Together, we continue to work towards a leprosy-free Sri Lanka, empowering communities

through knowledge and partnership.
