Relief for Children displaced by floods in Dehiowita

18 July 2008

Unusually heavy torrential monsoon rains flooded most low lying parts of Sabaragamuwa Province. Within the Dehiowita Divisional Secretariate the villages of Kannangama, Kurupeththa, Atulugama, Magammana, Kahanawita, Dehiowita, Appalapitiya, Gurugalla and Daigala were affected by the floods.  Many school children in these areas lost their school books, pens, pencils etc and their uniforms. Upon a request from the Divisional Secretary of Dehiowita, NCEASL provided 250 children with the required school accessories. These packs were handed over to the Divisional Secretariat of Dehiowita to be handed over to the children.
