Emergency Relief to Myilambaveli Eravurpattu Chenkaladi - Batticaloa

Due to military operations, thousands of people are fleeing from LTTE control areas to the government controlled areas in the East. From the last updated of UNHCR more than 150 thousand people are displaced in the Batticaloa District alone. The overall security situation remains tense and volatile. Intensive shelling continues almost daily, putting the civilian population at a higher risk. There is an existing food emergency in the area and Alliance Development Trust was able to provide dry rations for 575 families who have fled from Paduwankarai and have taken refuge in the refugee camp in Eravurpattu DS division of Chenkaladi.
