Water & Sanitation project starts in Batticaloa 

30 July to 03 August 2007 – The Water and Sanitation team visited Batticaloa to start off the WatSan well cleaning project.   Equipment was purchased and 2 wells were initially cleaned in Kallar with the help of volunteers from the area.  The same volunteers were trained on well cleaning, chlorination and water quality preservation. In addition to well-cleaning, 4 latrines have been identified for restoration and 1 latrine has been set up in Thuraineelavanai.  

ADT visited other areas in the East as well to identify villages that need tube wells and latrines.
