To meet the urgent needs of Tsunami affected families, Alliance
Development Trust provided temporary shelters in the worst affected
areas. During 2005 and 2006, ADT was able to provide permanent housing
for over 600 families. Due to the intensification of the ethnic
conflict, people from the North and East were displaced and some of the
construction work was affected; however, even though at a slow pace, the
construction did proceed. The southern part of Sri Lanka, which is not
affected by the war, has seen more houses come up.
