A kite festival with "Peace" as its theme was held on the 25th of January, 2006 at the Galle Face Green. This programme was a joint effort by the NCC, YMCA and ADT.

This festival brought together children from around the country. Including areas such as Jaffna, Vavuniya and Hendala.  
This event gave an opportunity for the children from the north and the south, Sinhala and Tamil children together to voice their need for peace in our land.
