Sivaperumal is a worker at the Leprosy hospital and has been working for over 8 years. He is married and has two children attending school. The whole family lives on Sivaperumal’s meager salary as his wife is a housewife looking after the home. ADT gave a loan to Sivaperumal to obtain vegetable seeds, fertilizer, insecticides & a manual spray. This enabled Sivaperumal to start a vegetable garden in the hospital premises, where he sells the vegetables to the hospital. This venture now gives Sivaperumal an additional monthly income of LKR 4500 – 5000 with which he meets his family needs as well as provides good fresh vegetables for his family.
