HIV & AIDS Training of trainers for prison Guards
29 October 2010 A one day program on HIV / AIDS was held on 29th of October 2010 at the Calvary Full Gospel Church, Marawankulam, Vavuniya. The objective of this seminar was to increase general awareness and prevent the spread of HIV /AIDS within the church community and empower them to become the healing body for the patients. 13 local church members attended this programme. The Jaffna ADT HIV/AIDS Project Officer conducted the seminar sharing basic information about HIV/AIDs that is not usually known by the community, as well as addressed some common myths related to HIV/AIDS. He also spoke of the Christian response towards caring and supporting those who have contracted HIV/AIDS and discussed practical ways to mobilize the churches to deal with the crisis among the communities. After the lecture, Mr M. H. Naseer
(Project Officer for Care Support, at Positive Women’s Network)
gave his testimony. He spoke on how he contracted the virus and how it
affected his life. He told the group about the changes and sacrifices
he has had to make, of his experiences with community members and groups
and gave his perspective on how the community should treat and care for
HIV/AIDs victims like him. The HIV/AIDs Project Officer of ADT concluded
