Distribution of Uniform Material for children at Thotalanga Children’s Club

The HIV/AIDS sector of the Alliance Development Trust organized a special program to celebrate the World HIV/AIDS Day. This was held on the 1st of December 2007 at the Salvation Army Central Church at Union Place, Colombo - 02.

Children from the Thotalanga Children’s Club participated at this special program by performing a special drama & song. Altogether 39 children took part in these items.

The drama was based on the story of a person affected by HIV and the pain he has to under go not only physically but also socially because he is rejected and discarded by society.

The song sung for the drama was based on the story of the Lost Sheep taken from the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 15: 4-7. The song reflected God’s concern for each individual created by Him in this world, no matter how lost and hopeless they might be. The song was accompanied by dancing as well and no doubt this was an eye catching event for the audience.

Later, on the 22nd of December 2007, in appreciation of their performance the children who participated were presented with uniform material by the HIV/AIDS Sector. This was both to show our gratitude towards the children for their participation and hard work and also enable them to have two sets of new uniforms for school. Performing at the World HIV/AIDS Day made these little ones very happy.
