HIV/AIDS Training of Trainers
 

 

Holistic Development Workshop
 

14-15 December 2006 - Project Positive, the HIV/AIDS desk of  Alliance Development Trust conducted a workshop to create awareness amongst the leaders of our regional network partners. The following segments were covered during the course of the workshop:-

1. Creating awareness among the community leaders
    about HIV/AIDS.

2. Conducting of  TOT (Training of Trainers) Programmes.

3. Monitoring awareness activities and supplying awareness
resources on HIV/AIDS to the trainers  in order to conduct   awareness campaigns in their regional communities.

 4. Livelihood Programmes and training to financially improve living standards of people and families  
     affected by HIV/AIDS.                            

HIV/AIDS Training of Trainers Programme for ADT Staff
 

28 July 2006 - 22 regional and head office staff participated. A  Clinical Psychologist who was invited to conduct the training.

The following themes were addressed:

   HIV/AIDS
   Myths and Realities Associated with this Disease
 
 How to Support Psychosocially People Living with HIV  

 

The participants were then divided into groups and the leaders were able to put forward the opinions of their groups according to the case studies in the training manual. Group members gave lots of new ideas and they showed their commitment to aware the community about HIV/AIDS.

OUTCOME

·     80% of participants said that they got the basic knowledge and learned how to psychosocially support the people living with HIV and Christian perspective on HIV/AIDS and caring.

·     50% of them said that psychological factors relate to HIV/AIDS and they wish to learn more about it.

·     70% of them expressed the desire to hold an awareness seminar in their regions.

·     All participants said that they wish to get more information on HIV/AIDS.
