HIV/AIDS Youth Seminar at Nuwara Eliya - 9 September 2006
 

Nuwara Eliya, 09 September 2006 - 45 youths from four church denominations gathered from several areas of Nuwara Eliya and started the seminar with a time of devotions. Mr. Gration Wickramasinghe, a professional lecture and Salvation Army officer, addressed the participants on the theme “The HIV/AIDS Epidemic”  
                                              
The youths were told about the basics of HIV/AIDS and this gave them the opportunity to share their views on the subject. They were then given case studies and asked which of them showed a possible HIV/AIDS case.

The participants were also told how to prevent the virus from spreading and the Christian perspective on how to support HIV/AIDS patients and their families psychosocially

HIV/AIDS Youth Seminar at Minuwangoda - 12 August 2006
 

Minuwangoda. 12 August 2006 - 85 youths gathered from several areas of Minuwangoda and commenced the seminar with a time of devotions. Pastor Sujeeva Thisera of the Philadelphia Church in Bahrain gave a speech on the theme of “Love, Sex and Purity” from a Christian perspective.  

Captain Wijesinghe Wijenama from the Salvation Army in Colombo addressed the participants on the theme "The HIV/AIDS Epidemic”. He also lectured on what HIV/AIDS is, how it spreads, myths and realities of HIV/AIDS.  

At the end of the seminar, 95% of participants said that they got basic knowledge and learned how to behave with people who are living with HIV/AIDS, from a Christian perspective. 50% of them said that the psychological factors relating to HIV/AIDS are still weak and they wish to learn more about it. 25% of them said that they would like to contribute their talents for future awareness Programmes in their regions. All participants agreed that they should learn further about HIV/AIDS.
