Mobile Medical Clinics - 31 January 2007
Mobile Medical Camp in Jaffna - 18 August 2007

Mobile Medical Clinics

Point Pedro, 31 January 2007 - Shortage of medicines, including paracetamol, to treat non lethal illness in hospitals has reached crisis proportions.  Outpatients with diabetes, high blood pressure and heart problems, who require regular cycles of medication, are being asked to buy the medicines from outside pharmacies.  Medicines which are available are marked at exorbitant prices, beyond the reach of many patients.

Alliance Development Trust set up medical clinics at several refugee camps in the Point Pedro Division.  A medical team visited the camps and provided medicines and other medical assistance.  More than 100 people, including children were treated.

Mobile Medical Camp in Jaffna

18 August 2007 - The situation in Jaffna has worsened. Civilians are enduring extreme hardships. Medicines are scarce and too expensive. People cannot afford to buy food or medications. Taking these facts into consideration, Alliance Development Trust has conducted a medical camp in Kapputhu, Point Pedro. This village is far from the town and there are no transport facilities.

More than 75 people, including women and children, received medicine free of charge.
