  Distribution of Relief Items

Medical Camp
Due to the torrential rains in most of the areas in Wattala were under water. Most of the people here including many of the children’s club children were facing many difficulties because their homes were underwater rendering them unsuitable for living in. Upon inspection of the area, we found out that many of the children and the families were suffering from various water bone diseases. After reporting to office, we took steps towards arranging a medical camp for these families. We were able to get 3 doctors through the contacts of HFC and Navajeevana and one nurse from the same. The medical camp was held at the Palliyawatta Church Grounds.

Distribution of Relief Items
We were not able to start out programme ion time because of various delays pertaining to picking up

medication and the Doctors.  Yet the programme was a success as we had more than 150 parents and children attending the camp.

After the Medical Camp, we selected 60 of the neediest families in the area and distributed packs to them. These packets were put together out of 83 towels, 120 pillow cases, 142 Bed Sheets, 3 Gunny bags of clothes, 600 exercise books, and 74 children’s’ gift packs.

We did encounter a few problems in giving these packs. We were able to get everything under control with the help of the church pastor.
